When Everything is Gold

Ornaments hung from the spruce; twinkling lights on the roof; earrings dangling from my lobes; new polish painted on my toes; sequins weighing down my dress; borrowed cufflinks on his wrists; champagne fizzing in our cups; to eat, we have a roasted duck; parquet dance floor filled with friends:

These days we will call our best.

  3. What a lovely little poetic rhythm you created. It was a little song that I think even I would dance to. 😀

  5. This is a nice little story. I found myself wondering if this was a holiday party or a wedding over the holidays!

    1. Thank you for commenting, Stacie! It’s a snapshot of my husband’s work holiday party last year.

  6. My favorite thing about this piece was the way you grouped each statement into one paragraph instead of presenting it like a poem. And maybe my second favorite was the way the lines didn’t rhyme but kinda rhymed. It gives such a lovely impression of the event and your anticipation.

The last line makes this. Lovely read. I’m not sure all the semi colons work for me (as much as I love them!) but there’s so much in here to play around with style and punctuation. Thanks for sharing D! x

I do Love your writing style Danielle and Yes in this here which you have written’ you’ve expressed life at its best and these experiences are of the best moments and always to be cherished; as soon if not already there with be magical glistening cycles of ice hanging down from the roof eve’s shining in morning sun light. The fragrance of pines, the vast snow capped groves of majestic skyward reaching cedar trees; And in our homes, the scents of cinnamon, of pumpkin spices.

This is where your writing piece has brought my mind to and to be desired and anticipated. To be vested in and experienced of such life; this roasted duck sounds delightful, and seasonal indeed. Thank you Danielle for giving our souls a retreat to roost in these autumn chilled winds. Now I want to cook a game bird for my families Christmas feast, perhaps roasted duck, pheasant or goose, with exotic chutney and side dishes away from the normal season holiday dinner.
I am not a Vegan, however for the worth mentioning here, ‘Vegan Pumpkin Pie is by far the best ever’, and if you can eat Dairy make a hand whipped fresh organic whipping cream to top it. Thanks for sharing Danielle, Happy Holidays.
